Hexadecimal to text

Read hexadecimal byte pairs as UTF-8 text. The decoder ignores whitespace between pairs and reports odd-length, invalid-hex, or invalid UTF-8 sequences.

TOOL GUIDE · HEX BYTE DECODING

Input format

Each byte is represented by exactly two hexadecimal digits. Spaces, tabs, and line breaks between pairs are ignored, so a readable dump can be pasted. The non-whitespace content must contain an even number of valid hex digits. The resulting bytes are decoded using strict UTF-8 text interpretation.

A byte sequence can be valid hexadecimal but not valid UTF-8. That may indicate arbitrary binary data or a different character encoding rather than a typo in the hex. Do not repeatedly edit bytes until readable text appears; first identify the source encoding and expected format.

Hex values may represent more than text

Hex is a notation for bytes. It can display text bytes, binary file contents, addresses, or protocol data. Correct interpretation depends on context, byte order, field size, and format. This page is a text decoder, not a general file parser or binary inspector.

For an example phrase, pair this tool with Text to Hex and compare the round trip. A round trip can confirm this conversion pair for a test string, but it does not prove that unknown source bytes have been interpreted correctly.

Safe review

  1. Confirm the source is intended to be hex-encoded UTF-8 text.
  2. Check that every byte contains two valid digits.
  3. Compare the output with a known sample or source documentation.
  4. Treat decoded data as untrusted; decoding does not sanitize or authenticate it.

Hex decoding runs locally in your browser. Hexadecimal is reversible representation—not encryption.
